Tata Motors Limited on Sunday reported a sharp 32 per cent year-on-year
surge in total sales for February 2026, underscoring sustained momentum in the
commercial vehicle segment and steady gains in international markets. The
company sold 42,940 units across domestic and overseas markets during the
month, compared with 32,533 units in February 2025.
Domestic sales climbed 32.8 per cent to 40,893 units from 30,797 units a
year earlier, while international business posted a healthy 17.9 per cent rise
to 2,047 units from 1,736 units. The performance was driven largely by strong
demand across truck categories and improved traction in cargo and passenger
transport segments.
Heavy commercial vehicle truck sales led the growth trajectory, jumping
37.1 per cent to 13,559 units from 9,892 units in the year-ago period.
Intermediate, light and medium commercial vehicle trucks also recorded a robust
34.1 per cent increase, with volumes rising to 7,577 units from 5,652 units.
Passenger carrier sales advanced 27.4 per cent year-on-year to 5,548 units,
reflecting improved mobility demand.
The small commercial vehicle cargo and pickup segment maintained its
upward trend, registering a 30.4 per cent growth with sales of 14,209 units
compared with 10,898 units in February 2025. In the medium and heavy commercial
vehicle category, domestic volumes reached 21,423 units, marking a 34.4 per
cent rise over 15,940 units last year. Including exports, MH&ICV sales
stood at 22,512 units, up 34.9 per cent from 16,693 units.
The company’s passenger vehicle business also showed strong momentum earlier in the calendar year. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited reported total sales of 71,066 units in January 2026, including electric vehicles, representing a 47.1 per cent increase over 48,316 units in January 2025. Domestic passenger vehicle sales, including EVs, grew 46.1 per cent to 70,222 units, while international passenger vehicle volumes rose sharply to 844 units from 240 units, a 251.7 per cent jump.
The latest figures highlight Tata Motors’ strengthening position across both commercial and passenger vehicle segments, supported by rising freight activity, infrastructure push and growing acceptance of electric mobility in the domestic market.
