Tata Power-led Odisha DISCOMs
organised a three-day annual workshop for Vigilance Officers from all four
distribution companies at the Management Development Centre, Baramunda, with
the objective of further strengthening internal vigilance mechanisms and
enhancing consumer confidence through transparent and ethical practices.
The workshop was inaugurated by
Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa, Director, Vigilance, Odisha, who highlighted the
critical role of robust internal vigilance systems in promoting transparency,
accountability and public trust. The inaugural session was attended by senior
leadership from the Tata Power-led Odisha distribution businesses, including
Gajanan Kale, Chief Odisha Distribution Business & CEO, TP Northern Odisha
Distribution Limited (TPNODL); Arvind Singh, CEO, TP Central Odisha
Distribution Limited (TPCODL); Amit Garg, CEO, TP Southern Odisha Distribution
Limited (TPSODL); Parveen Kumar Verma, CEO, TP Western Odisha Distribution
Limited (TPWODL); and Sarvanasamy Jaganathan, Senior Advisor (Security &
Vigilance), Tata Power Company. Shyam Sundar Choudhury, Chief BHR, Odisha, was
also present on the occasion.
The workshop focused on enhancing
awareness of business processes across cross-functional teams and identifying
critical areas that require vigilance intervention to ensure ethical, fair and
transparent service delivery. Specialised sessions were conducted by officers
from the State Vigilance Academy, with detailed discussions on the provisions
and practical application of the Prevention of Corruption Act, reinforcing the
importance of compliance and integrity in day-to-day operations.
Addressing the participants, Gajanan
Kale, Chief Odisha Distribution Business & CEO, TPNODL, said, “A strong and
credible vigilance framework is fundamental to transparent operations and
public trust. Continuous capacity building of vigilance officers strengthens
our commitment to ethical governance and consumer-centric service delivery.”
The programme concluded with a
valedictory address by Dr. Sudhanshu Sarangi, Director General, Fire &
Emergency Services, Commandant General, Home Guards and Director, Civil
Defence. He emphasised the significance of fairness, objectivity and certainty
of consequences in anti-corruption efforts, and urged vigilance officers to
conduct impartial and timely investigations to build confidence among
employees, management and the public.
The workshop marked another important
milestone in the Tata Power-led Odisha DISCOMs’ ongoing efforts to
institutionalise strong internal vigilance systems, reinforce transparency, and
uphold the highest standards of integrity in power distribution while
strengthening trust among consumers and stakeholders.
