Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms have
reinforced their position as national leaders in power distribution by securing
top honours in the Fourteenth Integrated Ratings and Rankings Report of Power
Distribution Utilities for FY 2025 released by the Ministry of Power. The
report evaluated the performance of 65 distribution utilities across the
country.
This achievement marks the third
consecutive year that the Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms have earned national
recognition for their sustained transformation of the state’s power
distribution ecosystem.
TPNODL emerged as a standout
performer, securing the ninth position nationally among all discoms. In a
significant milestone for Odisha, both TPNODL and TPCODL retained the
prestigious A+ grade, while TPWODL secured a strong A grade, reflecting
consistent improvements across operational and financial parameters.
The Ministry of Power’s report
highlights a clear upward trajectory in Odisha’s power infrastructure, citing
the collective progress of the Tata Power-led utilities as a successful
transition towards a modern, resilient, and consumer-centric distribution
network. A key driver behind the high national rankings was the notable
improvement in billing efficiency across the state. TPNODL and TPCODL, in
particular, recorded improvements of over two percentage points, underscoring
enhanced technical performance and process optimisation.
The report also notes strong financial
discipline across all three discoms, with each maintaining an efficient
collection cycle and achieving a Days Receivable period of 60 days or less.
This performance contributed to a broader national milestone, with India’s
power distribution sector turning profitable for the first time in FY 2025.
Commenting on the recognition, Gajanan
Kale, Chief of Odisha Distribution Business and CEO, TPNODL, said the focus
remains on building future-ready utilities anchored in consumer needs. He noted
that the Ministry of Power’s recognition reflects the success of digital
transformation and infrastructure modernisation efforts undertaken across
Odisha, and reaffirmed the commitment to raising benchmarks in reliability and
service quality for customers.
Through the adoption of smart grid
automation, AI-enabled customer support systems, and targeted loss reduction
initiatives, Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms continue to set new national
standards for excellence in power distribution.
Implemented in partnership with the
Government of Odisha, these joint ventures under the Tata Power umbrella
represent one of the most ambitious and comprehensive power distribution reform
programmes in the country.
