KALINGANAGAR, JANUARY 15, 2026

Reinforcing the message that road safety is a shared responsibility, Tata Steel Kalinganagar, in collaboration with the Kalinganagar Police, has launched a two-day Road Safety Awareness Campaign as part of the 37th National Road Safety Month. The initiative reflects a collective commitment to fostering safe and responsible road behaviour across the region.

The campaign was formally inaugurated at Tata Steel Kalinganagar’s Main Gate No. 1 in Duburi in the presence of Suprasanna Mallick, Additional Superintendent of Police, Kalinganagar, and Prakash Kumar Sahoo, Inspector In-Charge of Kalinganagar Police Station. Senior representatives from Tata Steel, including Prakash Sanjay, Chief Security of Tata Steel Kalinganagar and Tata Steel Meramandalli, and Ravi Shankar Mishra, Chief, Safety (Operations), TSK, were also present, underscoring the organisation’s strong emphasis on safety both within and beyond its operational boundaries.

Aligned with this year’s theme, “One Road, One Family – Respect for All,” the campaign seeks to highlight the importance of mutual respect, personal accountability and collective vigilance on the roads. As part of the awareness drive, drivers were sensitised on the critical importance of wearing seat belts, while two-wheeler riders and pillion riders were encouraged to make helmet use a non-negotiable habit. Safety leaflets detailing essential precautions were distributed to reinforce these messages.

Adding a creative and engaging dimension to the launch, two nukkad nataks were organised by the Security and Logistics departments, effectively conveying road safety norms through relatable, real-life scenarios and capturing the attention of commuters and onlookers alike.

Extending beyond the two-day programme, Tata Steel Kalinganagar’s month-long road safety initiatives will focus on strengthening awareness and compliance with key practices such as adherence to speed limits, consistent use of seatbelts in both front and rear seats, avoiding mobile phone usage while driving, maintaining safe distances between vehicles, following lane discipline, ensuring proper vehicle maintenance and giving priority to emergency vehicles. Through these sustained efforts, the campaign aims to build a safer road culture where every life is valued and protected.
