Reinforcing its
commitment to public welfare during Odisha's biggest religious congregation,
Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) provided free
healthcare services to more than 10,000 devotees during the Rath Yatra in Puri
through three strategically deployed Mobile Health Dispensaries (MHDs). The
initiative, undertaken by the joint venture between Tata Power and the
Government of Odisha, ensured immediate medical assistance to pilgrims amidst
the massive influx of devotees attending the annual festival of Lord Jagannath.
The Mobile Health
Dispensaries were stationed near the Gundicha Temple, Puri Beach, and Puri
Railway Station, enabling devotees to access prompt medical care at key
locations across the pilgrim town. Over a span of two days, thousands of
pilgrims benefited from primary healthcare services, highlighting the
effectiveness of the initiative during one of the country's largest religious
gatherings.
Each Mobile Health
Dispensary was equipped with a qualified doctor, a nurse, and a pharmacist to
provide first aid, emergency medical care, and free medicines. In view of the
prevailing heat and overcrowding, the medical teams also distributed thousands
of free Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) packets to help prevent dehydration
among devotees, making hydration and immediate healthcare a key focus of the
campaign.
TPCODL officials said
the initiative reflects the Discom’s commitment to ensuring the safety, health,
and well-being of pilgrims visiting Puri for the Rath Yatra.
Encouraged by the
response, the company has announced that the three Mobile Health Dispensaries
will once again be deployed during the upcoming Bahuda Yatra and Suna Besha
celebrations to cater to the expected surge in devotees and continue providing
free medical assistance.
