Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal held a series of high-level strategic meetings with Finland’s leading technology and industrial companies, reinforcing the growing India–Finland economic partnership and opening new avenues for collaboration in advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, innovation and sustainable infrastructure.

The engagements, part of the Minister’s wider successful visit to Finland, underscored the shared commitment of both nations to deepen cooperation in next-generation technologies, research, investment and industrial transformation, while positioning India as a trusted global manufacturing and innovation hub.

During his meeting with the senior leadership of Nokia Corporation, Goyal discussed expanding cooperation in next-generation telecommunications, 5G and 6G technologies, digital infrastructure, electronics manufacturing, research and development, and innovation partnerships. The discussions also highlighted Nokia’s long-standing contribution to India’s telecom ecosystem and explored fresh opportunities to collaborate in emerging digital technologies.

At the VTT Technical Research Centre, one of Europe’s premier applied research institutions, the focus was on strengthening partnerships in research, innovation, clean technologies, advanced materials, industrial transformation, digitalisation and sustainable development. Both sides explored mechanisms to enhance joint research initiatives and facilitate technology transfer between Indian and Finnish institutions.

Goyal also met the Chairman and senior leadership of KONE Corporation, where discussions centred on expanding cooperation in smart urban infrastructure, elevator and escalator technologies, sustainable construction solutions, advanced manufacturing and localisation. The interaction also examined opportunities arising from India’s rapidly expanding infrastructure sector and its growing manufacturing ecosystem.

The Minister concluded his industry engagements with the Kemppi Group, meeting the company’s owners and senior leadership to discuss advanced industrial machinery, welding technologies, manufacturing innovation and clean industrial solutions. The discussions also explored investment opportunities in India’s expanding manufacturing and infrastructure sectors, including collaboration in emerging areas such as EV charging infrastructure and advanced industrial technologies.

The series of meetings provided a platform for direct engagement with Finnish industry leaders, highlighting India’s attractiveness as a preferred destination for manufacturing, technology and innovation-led investments while further strengthening business-to-business ties between the two countries.

The visit concluded with a reaffirmation of the shared commitment of India and Finland to deepen collaboration in technology, innovation, sustainable manufacturing, research and investment. Building on the momentum generated by the India–Finland Business Forum held a day earlier, the engagements are expected to accelerate long-term cooperation across strategic sectors and further strengthen bilateral economic relations.
