Utkal Alumina International Ltd (UAIL), a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries under the Aditya Birla Group, celebrated the 77th Republic Day on Monday with great pride and enthusiasm, reaffirming its commitment to national values and inclusive growth. The vibrant ceremony was held at the Helipad Ground in Nuapada, bringing together employees, families and the local community in a spirit of unity and patriotism.

The programme was graced by the Chief Guest and Unit Head, Rabi Narayan Mishra, who unfurled the National Flag amid rousing chants and joined the gathering in singing the National Anthem. The occasion was further dignified by a ceremonial parade presented by the plant’s security forces, including SIS, SSTF, SISCO and CISF, along with an impressive ladies’ contingent. Mishra inspected the parade and took the salute, applauding the discipline and dedication of the security personnel.

Addressing the gathering, Mishra paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters whose sacrifices laid the foundation of the Republic. He reflected on the vision and ideals of the framers of the Constitution, highlighting its enduring relevance in strengthening democratic values. Emphasising responsible citizenship, he also called upon all to contribute towards building a greener planet, underlining environmental protection as a shared national duty.

The celebrations were enlivened by colourful patriotic cultural performances by students of Aditya Birla Public School, followed by an engaging cultural presentation by a dance troupe from nearby Tikarapada village, showcasing the region’s rich heritage.

In a touching moment, UAIL honoured its longest-serving employees — Lalit Mishra, Yudhishthir Behera and Akshay Pillai — for their dedication and years of service to the organisation. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of functional heads, department heads, employees of UAIL and their family members, making the celebration a memorable tribute to the spirit of the Republic.
