energy systems. Shri Singh Deo outlined the state’s evolving renewable energy
strategy, highlighting the growing role of pumped storage projects and the
critical need to integrate Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across grid
infrastructure and solar installations. He stressed that embedding storage
solutions would ensure reliable power supply during peak demand hours and
strengthen grid resilience.
Emerging technology sectors
also featured prominently in the discussions. The Deputy Chief Minister

India’s first 3D glass-based chip initiatives. Plans to expand data centre
infrastructure, modernize connectivity through underground cabling, and explore
rare earth mineral deposits along the state’s coastline were also shared,
underscoring Odisha’s intent to position itself as a future-ready technology
hub.
The meeting further highlighted
Odisha’s growing strength in supply chain management and logistics,
particularly in the maritime sector. Both sides explored avenues to support
scaling up of matured startups and enhancing access to funding, aimed at
fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.
Beyond industry and
infrastructure, the engagement reflected a shared commitment to cultural and
people-to-people ties. Ms. Williams lauded Odisha’s resilience, especially its
efficient power restoration efforts in the aftermath of cyclones, which have
set benchmarks in disaster response.
To promote tourism and cultural
exchange, Singh Deo showcased Odisha’s rich natural and cultural assets,
including its national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, and strong sporting
ecosystem. In a gesture of goodwill, the Consul General was presented with a
book highlighting the state’s vibrant heritage.
