Odisha’s Housing & Urban Development Department Additional Chief Secretary Usha Padhee on Monday assumed additional charge as Chairperson of the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), marking the beginning of a renewed push for integrated industrial and urban development in the State.

Soon after taking over, Padhee held an in-depth interaction with senior officers and staff of IDCO, reviewing ongoing initiatives, institutional priorities and the roadmap for strengthening industrial infrastructure across Odisha. The discussion underscored the strategic role of IDCO in shaping the State’s industrial landscape through systematic land development, infrastructure creation and proactive investment facilitation.

Linking industrial growth with efficient governance, Padhee stressed the need for timely execution of projects, greater transparency, strong inter-departmental coordination and seamless support to investors. She noted that IDCO’s effectiveness would be central to accelerating industrialisation and improving Odisha’s competitiveness as an investment destination.

Highlighting the importance of convergence between industry and urban planning, she underlined that industrial infrastructure must evolve alongside planned urban growth. She called for the development of well-designed industrial townships supported by robust civic amenities, mobility solutions and sustainable infrastructure, ensuring balanced and integrated regional development across the State.

Padhee appreciated the efforts of the IDCO team and urged officers and staff to work with renewed commitment, professionalism and a collaborative spirit. She reaffirmed that a strong, responsive and forward-looking IDCO would be critical in realising Odisha’s vision of accelerated industrial development and inclusive economic growth.
