Vedanta Aluminium, a subsidiary of
Vedanta Limited and India’s largest aluminium producer, has invited Expressions
of Interest (EOI) from reputed and experienced business partners for
undertaking end-to-end operations and maintenance of its Red Mud Management
System at the company’s alumina refinery in Lanjigarh, Odisha.
The move underscores Vedanta
Aluminium’s continued focus on operational excellence, sustainability and
responsible waste management across its integrated aluminium value chain. Red
mud, a by-product of alumina refining, requires specialised handling and
treatment to ensure environmental safety and regulatory compliance, and the
company is seeking competent partners with proven expertise to manage this
critical function.
As part of the proposed engagement,
the selected partner will be responsible for comprehensive operations and
maintenance of red mud filtration, handling and trailing dam management systems
catering to both 2 MTPA and 3 MTPA refinery capacities. The scope will span the
entire lifecycle of red mud handling, including operations, upkeep, continuous
monitoring and adherence to the highest standards of safety, efficiency and
environmental responsibility.
Vedanta Aluminium operates a robust
aluminium ecosystem with a smelting capacity of 2.42 million tonnes per annum
and world-class facilities, including a 1.85 MTPA smelter with a 361.5 MW
captive power plant at Jharsuguda in Odisha, a 0.58 MTPA smelter at BALCO in
Korba, Chhattisgarh, and a 5 MTPA alumina refinery at Lanjigarh. The EOI
initiative aligns with the company’s broader strategy to strengthen sustainable
operations while partnering with industry specialists to drive best-in-class
outcomes.
Interested entities have been invited
to submit their EOIs along with detailed credentials and statutory information latest
by Janary 26, 2026, marking another step by Vedanta Aluminium to reinforce
