Emphasising the vital contribution of
women employees in achieving a major operational milestone, Shri P. L.
Haranadh, Chairman, Paradip Port Authority (PPA), said that the Port has
crossed 150 MMT cargo throughput in the current fiscal and acknowledged the
significant role played by women professionals in this achievement. He
underlined the importance of quality education for young girls as a foundation
for societal upliftment and appreciated the proactive role of the Working Women
Cell in addressing women-related issues and promoting workplace inclusivity.
The Working Women Cell of Paradip Port
Authority commemorated International Women’s Day at the Officers’ Club with a
programme themed “Give to Gain,” celebrating the spirit of empowerment,
wellbeing, and collective progress.
The Chairman highlighted the
importance of women’s health and encouraged employees to actively participate
in special cancer screening camps and utilise the Mobile Medical Unit facility.
He reiterated PPA’s continued commitment to strengthening a supportive work
environment through enhanced facilities and welfare initiatives designed to
promote safety, health, and professional growth for women employees.
Eminent speakers Dr. Anupama Behera,
Associate Professor, General Medicine, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, delivered an
insightful session on women’s health, while Dr. Suman Dash Bhattamishra,
educationist from National Law University, spoke on gender laws and legal
awareness. Both speakers were felicitated for their valuable contributions
towards promoting knowledge and awareness.
Krishna Bapi Raju G, Secretary, PPA,
spoke on the cultural ethos of respect for women embedded in Indian tradition
and highlighted the importance of values such as respect, care, and
responsibility in everyday life as essential to building a harmonious and
progressive society.
The programme witnessed the presence
of Heads of Departments, senior officers, employees, members of the Working
Women Cell, and members of the Paradip Ladies Club, reflecting collective
commitment towards strengthening gender inclusion at the workplace.
Shraddha Ojha, Chairperson, Working Women Cell, delivered the welcome address. The programme was compered by Shraddhanjali Routray, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Simashree Nayak.
The celebration underscored the growing role of women in the growth journey of PPA and reaffirmed the organisation’s resolve to foster an inclusive, progressive, and empowering work culture aligned with the spirit of International Women’s Day.
