JSW Steel’s Odisha
mining division has achieved a significant milestone by securing 23 awards at
the 43rd Annual Metalliferous Mines Safety Fortnight observance held in
Bhubaneswar. Organized by the Eastern Zone Mining Association under the aegis
of the on Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Bhubaneswar Region–1 and
2, the recognition underscores the division’s strong commitment to safety,
innovation, and workforce welfare across its mining operations.
The awards were
received by Prasanna Panda, Business Head of JSW Steel Odisha Mining Division,
and Ram Shankar Sharma, Operations and Projects Head, along with their
respective teams, reflecting the company’s consistent focus on fostering a
culture of safety and operational excellence.
Among the standout
achievements, Ganua Mines secured Overall First performance in Group B4,
clinching seven awards for excellence in Innovation & Digitalization,
General Working, Mock Drill, and Welfare. Nugaon Mines earned Overall Second
performance in Group A2, while Narayanposhi Mines achieved Overall Third
performance in Group B1 with commendable performances in Mock Drill,
Electrical, Mechanical, and General Working categories.
The General Division
further strengthened the company’s tally, with JSW Jajang’s Occupational Health
Centre (OHC) securing Overall First Position in the general category, while
GVTC claimed Second Position. Adding to the accolades, JSW Steel’s stall
secured Overall Third Position for showcasing innovations such as the sleipner
system and laser facility in HEMM, along with initiatives promoting the
inclusion of women operators in mining.
In a landmark moment,
this marks the first time since the commencement of JSW Odisha Mines that all
three mines, along with the Occupational Health Centre (OHC), have
simultaneously secured positions among the top three on a national safety
platform.
The Metalliferous
Mines Safety Fortnight is a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting safe
mining practices, preventing accidents, and enhancing awareness among workers
and management, reinforcing the industry’s commitment to sustainable and
responsible mining operations.
