From the timeless artistry of Pattachitra to the intricate elegance of Cuttack’s silver filigree, Odisha’s rich cultural heritage is finding a powerful new voice in the digital world. Against the majestic backdrop of the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue, a delegation of ten prominent digital content creators and social media influencers from Odisha is weaving a compelling narrative of India’s cultural diversity, taking the message of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ to audiences across the country and beyond. Their participation in Bharat Parv 2026 at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, is transforming traditional art forms, indigenous craftsmanship and regional cultural expressions into engaging digital stories that celebrate the spirit of a united India.

Organised under the aegis of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Bhubaneswar, the initiative brings together ten digital storytellers from Odisha with the objective of showcasing the state’s distinctive cultural identity on a national platform. The expedition seeks to celebrate the living ethos of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ by bringing regional artistic excellence, indigenous traditions and local craftsmanship into the national spotlight through the power and reach of digital media.

The fortnight-long cultural extravaganza, being held from November 1 to 15, 2026, is hosted by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with Gujarat Tourism, with the support of various States and Union Territories. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations, the festival has emerged as a major national platform for fostering patriotic spirit, showcasing India’s rich civilisational heritage and promoting the holistic vision of ‘Dekho Apna Desh’. Bringing together diverse cultural traditions within a common space, Bharat Parv offers visitors an opportunity to experience the extraordinary range of India’s artistic, culinary and cultural expressions. The initiative reinforces the enduring foundations of national solidarity, mutual understanding and cultural integration.

For the visiting creators from Odisha, the festival offered an expansive canvas of experiences, extending from the monumental presence of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s statue to the verdant, mist-covered canopies of the local Rain Forest and the sprawling 17-acre sanctuary of Arogya Van. The latter provided an immersive glimpse into India’s ancient Ayurvedic knowledge systems, medicinal plant heritage and the growing significance of sustainable eco-tourism. Through their digital narratives, the creators captured the diverse dimensions of Ekta Nagar, highlighting the seamless relationship between India’s historical legacy, ecological wealth and contemporary aspirations.

At the Bharat Parv Theme Pavilion, Odisha’s master artisans emerged as a major attraction for visitors and digital audiences at the One District One Product (ODOP) pavilion. The creators documented captivating live demonstrations of the state’s celebrated Pattachitra scroll paintings, renowned for their intricate detailing, mythological narratives and vibrant traditional colours. Equally captivating was the delicate craftsmanship of Cuttack’s celebrated silver filigree, popularly known as Tarakasi, which reflects generations of artistic skill and painstaking workmanship.

Sharing the national platform with distinguished traditional art forms from other regions — including Gujarat’s Rogan art, Kashmir’s Sozni needlework and Andhra Pradesh’s Kalamkari — the Odisha exhibits highlighted the remarkable diversity of India’s indigenous craftsmanship. The creators brought these artistic traditions to the forefront of their digital campaigns, giving fresh momentum to the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative. By documenting the artisans at work and capturing the stories behind their creations, they sought to connect rural craftsmanship with wider audiences, particularly younger generations, while underscoring the importance of preserving traditional skills and supporting local livelihoods.

Adding another memorable dimension to the cultural experience, the delegation attended the Ekta Prakash Parv, a spectacular nocturnal presentation illuminating the grandeur and cultural significance of the Narmada valley. Through an impressive combination of sustainable lighting arrangements, advanced laser technology and contemporary visual arts, the showcase brought alive the visionary legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and his historic contribution to India's national integration. As artistic motifs and cultural representations from different parts of the country illuminated the night sky, the presentation offered a powerful visual interpretation of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’. It conveyed the enduring message that India's cultural diversity is not a source of division but a shared inheritance that transcends geographical and linguistic boundaries to strengthen the bonds of national unity.

As evening descended over the picturesque Narmada valley, the celebrations continued at the open-air amphitheatre and the specially curated food zone, where visitors experienced the culinary richness of twenty-four States and Union Territories. A vibrant programme of regional music and dance performances further transformed the venue into a celebration of India's living cultural traditions. From the classical grace of Kuchipudi and the exuberant rhythms of Assamese Bihu to the energetic movements of Purulia Chhau and the colourful spectacle of Gujarati Garba, the stage presented a captivating panorama of the country's performing arts. Odisha's iconic Sambalpuri dance, with its distinctive rhythms, colourful costumes and spirited footwork, added a special vibrancy to the celebrations and drew enthusiastic applause from audiences representing different parts of the country.

Through cinematic reels, immersive travel vlogs, compelling photo-essays and engaging social media narratives, the Odisha delegation is documenting the festival's cultural richness while taking the state's artistic heritage to a wider national and global audience. Their digital storytelling demonstrates how emerging media platforms can serve as powerful instruments for cultural preservation, tourism promotion and the recognition of indigenous talent. By bringing artisans, performers, local traditions and regional experiences closer to millions of viewers, the creators are helping bridge the gap between India's traditional cultural wealth and its digitally connected younger generation.

The initiative ultimately reinforces a profound message: while India's artistic expressions are rooted in distinct regional histories, languages and traditions, they are bound together by a shared civilisational identity. At Ekta Nagar, the creative voices of Odisha are adding a distinctive chapter to this national narrative, demonstrating that the true strength of India lies in celebrating its diversity while remaining united in purpose, pride and heritage.
