Jio Financial Services Ltd's wholly-owned subsidiary Jio Finance Platform and Service Ltd (JFPSL) has introduced a new feature on its JioFinance app, enabling JioFinance+ customers to convert accumulated loyalty points into 24-carat digital gold, enhancing the value of everyday financial transactions.

Launched ahead of Dhanteras, an auspicious occasion traditionally associated with gold purchases, the facility allows customers to redeem JioPoints earned through eligible transactions, including UPI payments and bill payments, for digital gold.

Under the new feature, each JioPoint carries a redemption value of Rs 0.25, with customers required to accumulate a minimum of 400 points, equivalent to Rs 100, to initiate a conversion. The quantity of gold credited to a customer's account will be determined by the prevailing gold price at the time of the transaction.

Customers can check their available JioPoints balance, choose the number of points they wish to redeem and view the corresponding gold value before confirming the transaction, JFPSL said in a statement on Thursday.

The feature also provides seamless onboarding for customers who do not already hold a JioGold account. Following a successful conversion, the digital gold is instantly credited to their JioGold holdings, with updated balances and transaction records available directly on the app.

The facility is exclusively available to JioFinance+ members and forms part of the company's broader value-back proposition aimed at enhancing the benefits of its financial services ecosystem.

JioFinance+ is a membership programme offering premium benefits, including accelerated JioPoints accumulation and additional rewards across eligible financial products available on the JioFinance marketplace.

Built around a commission-sharing model, the programme redistributes a portion of platform earnings directly to members, seeking to enhance the value derived from transactions across the platform's financial offerings.
