Reinforcing
its commitment to grassroots development and sustainable agriculture, Aditya
Aluminium, Lapanga has been actively driving community development initiatives
across six Gram Panchayats of Rengali Block. At the heart of these efforts is
Project UNNATI, a focused intervention aimed at equipping farmers with modern,
sustainable, and eco-friendly agricultural practices through structured
capacity-building programs.
In
a significant step under this initiative, a Training-cum-Exposure Programme on
“Organic Practices in Horticultural Crops” was organized at the Krishi Vigyan
Kendra (KVK), Chiplima, Sambalpur. The programme witnessed enthusiastic
participation from 30 farmers belonging to Katarbaga and Ghichamura Panchayats
of rengali Block, reflecting the growing interest among rural communities in
adopting sustainable farming methods.
The
technical session was led by Dr. Swagatika Srichandan, Senior Scientist and
Head of KVK, Chiplima, who delivered detailed insights into the use of organic
fertilizers, their long-term benefits, and their positive impact on soil health
and the environment. Her interaction emphasized the importance of reducing
chemical dependency in agriculture and adopting practices that ensure both
productivity and ecological balance.
Adding
a practical dimension to the training, the programme included a field visit
where farmers were introduced to real-time applications of organic farming
techniques. Participants also gained hands-on exposure to the Integrated
Farming System (IFS) model, which integrates various agricultural activities to
enhance productivity and sustainability.
The
learning experience was further enriched through an interactive session with
Dr. Atanu Seni, Scientist (Entomology), AICRP on Rice at RRTTS, Chiplima. He
educated farmers on effective and eco-friendly pest management strategies,
equipping them with knowledge to safeguard crops while minimizing chemical
usage.
The
programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participating
farmers, recognizing their engagement and encouraging continued learning and
application of the practices introduced during the training.
The inaugural session was attended by CSR Cluster Head Siba Mohapatra, CSR Head Ravi Niwas, and Manoranjan Behera. They interacted with the farmers, listened to their experiences, and reiterated the organisation’s commitment to supporting rural communities through sustained developmental initiatives.
Participants widely appreciated the programme for its relevance, practical orientation, and potential to improve agricultural outcomes. Many farmers expressed confidence that the knowledge gained would help them adopt more sustainable practices, reduce input costs, and enhance crop quality.
