Bandhan Bank marked
its 11th anniversary with a significant milestone in its growth journey,
inaugurating its 2,000th branch at Egmore in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. With the
addition of the new branch, the Bank’s total network of banking outlets across
India has grown to 6,400, strengthening its presence across urban, semi-urban
and rural markets.
The milestone places
Bandhan Bank among the top three private sector banks in India in terms of
branch network, underlining its continued focus on expanding access to formal
banking services and deepening financial inclusion across the country.
On the digital front,
the Bank also launched mBandhan Lite, a simplified mobile banking application
specifically designed for its microfinance customers. The app aims to make
digital banking more accessible, intuitive and inclusive for customers who may
be new to digital financial services.
mBandhan Lite offers
a range of features, including Aadhaar-based onboarding, account tracking, loan
repayment, access to statements and certificates, chatbot assistance and
multilingual support in English, Hindi and Bengali. These features are intended
to provide customers with a convenient and seamless way to access essential
banking services.
The twin milestones
reflect Bandhan Bank’s strategy of expanding both its physical and digital
banking footprint to meet the evolving needs of customers. While the 2,000th
branch marks the continued expansion of its brick-and-mortar network, mBandhan
Lite seeks to simplify digital banking and extend the benefits of technology to
its microfinance customer base.
Commenting on the
occasion, Partha Pratim Sengupta, MD & CEO, Bandhan Bank, said, “Today is a
proud moment for all of us at Bandhan Bank. The opening of our 2,000th branch
highlights the scale of our growth and our commitment to bringing banking
closer to customers across geographies. With the launch of the branch in
Egmore, Chennai, the total number of banking outlets touches 6,400.
“The launch of mBandhan Lite reflects our
focus on making essential banking services accessible to our microfinance
customers. As we celebrate these milestones, we remain committed to delivering
seamless and inclusive banking experiences that empower individuals, businesses
and communities across India.”
Bandhan
Bank currently has a presence across 35 of India’s 36 states and union
territories and serves more than 3.2 crore customers through its network of
6,400 banking outlets.
