Anupam Misra on
Wednesday assumed charge as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of
Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), bringing with him more than three decades of
leadership experience in marketing, international trade, business development
and strategic management.
Misra's appointment
comes at a crucial juncture as India intensifies efforts to strengthen domestic
mineral security and expand the availability of critical raw materials. With a
blend of strategic vision, commercial expertise and board-level leadership, he
is expected to steer HCL's growth and reinforce its role in supporting the
country's copper and critical mineral ambitions.
A graduate in Civil
Engineering with honours from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, Misra
also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Indian Institute of
Management Lucknow. He has further enhanced his leadership credentials through
executive programmes at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and Indian
Institute of Management Calcutta.
A seasoned management
professional with over 33 years of experience, Misra has built expertise across
the minerals, metals, chemicals, engineering goods and project business
sectors, with a strong track record in marketing, international trade and
business development.
Before joining HCL, he served as Director (Marketing) at Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT) from July 2020 to June 2026. During this period, he also held the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director of FACT, where he demonstrated strategic leadership and commercial acumen at the board level.
Soon after assuming office, Misra held review meetings with HCL's Functional Directors to assess the company's operational and strategic priorities. He also interacted with departmental heads at the corporate office and unit heads across the country through virtual meetings to discuss key operational issues, ongoing projects and the company's long-term growth roadmap.
