Bank of Baroda on
Monday announced plans to recruit 100 Local Bank Officers in Odisha as part of
a nationwide hiring drive aimed at strengthening its local talent pool,
expanding grassroots banking and supporting regional economic growth.
The public sector
lender will recruit the officers in Junior Management Grade/Scale-I (JMG/S-I)
on a regular basis in Odisha. The recruitment is part of the bank's larger
initiative to appoint 2,482 Local Bank Officers across 20 states and Union
Territories.
The initiative is
designed to create quality career opportunities for young banking professionals
while enabling the bank to strengthen its understanding of local markets and
better cater to the evolving financial needs of customers and businesses at the
grassroots level.
A key feature of the
recruitment drive is the state-based posting policy. Selected officers will be
posted in the state for which they have applied for the first 12 years of their
service or until their promotion to SMGS-IV grade, whichever is earlier.
The policy is
expected to help the bank build a workforce with strong proficiency in local
languages, cultural familiarity and a deeper understanding of regional markets.
This, in turn, will help strengthen customer relationships, improve service
delivery and enable the bank to respond more effectively to the banking
requirements of people across different regions.
"This
recruitment drive represents an investment not only in our workforce, but also
in the communities and economies we serve," Bank of Baroda Executive
Director Lal Singh said.
"By bringing in
young banking professionals with strong local understanding and language
capabilities, we are strengthening our ability to respond to the evolving needs
of customers in different markets. At the same time, the initiative creates
opportunities for local talent to build rewarding careers while contributing to
the economic development of their respective states," he said.
Singh said the
initiative was aligned with the bank's broader role as a public sector bank in
advancing inclusive growth and creating sustainable employment opportunities.
The recruitment also
seeks to align the bank's expansion with regional development priorities by
giving local talent an opportunity to establish long-term careers while serving
the communities in their respective states.
Candidates applying
for the Local Bank Officer position must be between 21 and 30 years of age as
on August 1, 2026, with applicable age relaxations for eligible categories.
Applicants must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised
university.
They must also have
at least one year of post-qualification experience as an officer in a Scheduled
Commercial Bank listed in the Second Schedule of the Reserve Bank of India.
Besides educational and experience requirements, candidates must be fluent in the local language of the state from which they are applying, including the ability to read, write, speak and understand it.
Applications for the recruitment drive will remain open till September 7, 2026. Eligible candidates can apply online through the Bank of Baroda website during the application window.
