Derhasat Basumatary, Executive Member for Health & Family Welfare, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), visited the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) Centre at NTPC Bongaigaon and commended the power station for its steadfast commitment to empowering young girls through its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

During the visit, Basumatary interacted with the 50 participants of GEM 2026, encouraging them to pursue their aspirations with confidence, dedication and determination. He appreciated the programme's residential facilities, enriching learning environment and holistic approach to nurturing young minds, observing that such initiatives play a vital role in shaping confident, educated and empowered citizens.

b2-9Praising NTPC Bongaigaon's sustained efforts towards the socio-economic development of the region, Shri Basumatary highlighted the significance of the Girl Empowerment Mission in creating meaningful opportunities for girls through education, life skills, health awareness, sports and personality development.

As part of the programme, Shri Basumatary distributed educational kits and mosquito nets to the participants and conveyed his best wishes for their successful and bright future.

He was accompanied by Anurag Gupta, General Manager (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon; Amit Kumar Asthana, AGM (HR); Roshan Dungdung, AGM (HR); and officials from the Human Resources and CSR Departments, who briefed him on the activities and progress of GEM 2026.

The visit reaffirmed NTPC Bongaigaon's commitment to empowering the girl child and promoting inclusive community development through impactful CSR initiatives, in alignment with the national vision of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
