The All India Public
Sector Badminton Tournament concluded on a high note with teams representing
the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) clinching the titles in both
the men’s and women’s team events, marking an emphatic finish to the
prestigious championship hosted by National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO)
at the Biju Patnaik Multipurpose Indoor Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
CAG extended its
dominance beyond team events, securing first place in the men’s singles and
mixed doubles categories as well. Teams from the Airports Authority of India
(AAI) delivered an impressive performance, winning the women’s singles, men’s
doubles, and women’s doubles titles, adding further competitive intensity to
the championship.
The tournament,
organised by Navratna CPSE NALCO, witnessed enthusiastic participation from
around 200 players representing 14 public sector organisations across the
country. The event showcased high-quality competition while reinforcing the
spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship among PSU professionals.
NALCO
Chairman-cum-Managing Direcor Brijendra Pratap Singh handed over the prizes
across various categories at the valedictory ceremony on Friday in the presence
of Dr. Tapas Kumar Pattanayak, Director (HR), and Anil Kumar Singh, Director
(Commercial), NALCO. The NALCO CMD expressed his satisfaction over the success
of the tournament and congratulated all participants for their exemplary
sporting spirit.
Senior officials of
NALCO, match officials, and participating teams were also present on the
occasion. The tournament, which commenced on April 7 and featured four days of
exhilarating matches, reaffirmed NALCO’s commitment to promoting sports and
nurturing talent across the country, further strengthening the culture of
excellence and wellness within India’s public sector ecosystem.
