India’s
competition watchdog, the Competition Commission of India (CCI), on Thursday
dismissed allegations of anti-competitive conduct against entities of the Adani
Group, Azure Power and others in connection with a solar power tender issued by
the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
The
complaint had named Adani Enterprises Ltd, Adani Green Energy Four Ltd, Gautam
Adani, Sagar Adani, Azure Power India Pvt Ltd, SECI, along with several
state-run power utilities, alleging violations of competition law.
After
reviewing the matter, the CCI concluded that India’s power generation sector
remains broadly competitive, with a mix of strong public and private
participants. It noted that the Adani Group, at this stage, does not appear to
hold a dominant position in the market, leading to the dismissal of the case.
