The inaugural edition of the Odisha
Mining and Construction Equipment Expo (OMCE) 2026, organised by the
Confederation of Indian Industry, commenced in Bhubaneswar on Thursday,
bringing together industry leaders, policymakers and technology providers for a
strategic convergence aimed at accelerating growth in Eastern India’s mining
and construction equipment sectors.
The three-day expo was inaugurated by
Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Home, Industries and
I&PR, Government of Odisha, in the presence of Thiagarajan and Anil Kumar
Singh, marking a significant milestone for the region’s industrial ecosystem.
The event has drawn widespread participation from leading domestic and global
companies, underscoring its growing importance as a focused B2B platform.
Following the inauguration,
dignitaries conducted an extensive walkthrough of the exhibition, engaging with
exhibitors and witnessing live demonstrations of advanced machinery,
next-generation technologies and innovative solutions that reflect the sector’s
rapid evolution. The exhibition floor showcased cutting-edge developments
designed to improve efficiency, safety and sustainability across mining and
infrastructure operations.
An exclusive CEOs Roundtable, chaired
by Hemant Sharma alongside CII leadership, set the tone for high-level
deliberations on the future of the sector. In his address, Sharma reiterated
the Odisha government’s commitment to fostering a conducive industrial
ecosystem, emphasizing policy support, ease of doing business and investment
facilitation. He lauded CII’s initiative in creating a unified platform that
connects manufacturers, end-users and policymakers to drive collaborative
growth.
The roundtable enabled industry
leaders to deliberate on critical challenges and emerging opportunities, with
discussions focusing on sustainable mining practices, technological adoption,
skill development and infrastructure expansion. The dialogue highlighted the
need for integrated approaches to strengthen the mining and construction
equipment ecosystem while aligning with environmental and economic priorities.
With participation from over 150 exhibitors and an expected footfall of more than 10,000 business visitors, OMCE 2026 offers a comprehensive showcase of equipment, technologies and solutions spanning mining, construction and infrastructure sectors. The co-located Odisha Metal Expo 2026 has further broadened the platform, bringing metals and allied industries into the fold and enhancing cross-sector collaboration.
As the event progresses over the next two days, a series of B2B and B2G meetings, technical sessions and networking engagements are set to deepen partnerships and unlock new investment avenues. Positioned as a premier regional platform, OMCE 2026 is poised to reinforce Odisha’s emergence as a key industrial hub while paving the way for technology-driven, sustainable growth in the mining and infrastructure landscape.
