Describing civil servants as the crucial bridge between the nation’s aspirations and their delivery at the grassroots, Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan on Thursday called upon young officers to become catalysts of inclusive and transformative development, ensuring that the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047 reaches every citizen and every corner of the country.

Congratulating Officer Trainees on the successful completion of their training, the Vice-President said that civil services have made immense contributions to India’s development and continue to play a vital role in translating policies into tangible outcomes on the ground.

Referring to India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047, C. P. Radhakrishnan urged the officers to ensure that development is inclusive and reaches the last mile. He called upon them to make “Sevabhav and Kartavyabodh” their guiding mantra, placing service to the nation and a strong sense of duty at the heart of their careers.

Emphasising the importance of teamwork, the Vice-President encouraged the young officers to pursue team excellence rather than individual or group excellence. He stressed the need to build cohesive teams, inspire and motivate colleagues, and preserve and strengthen the good practices established by their predecessors.

Highlighting the growing participation of women in the civil services, C. P. Radhakrishnan noted that around 41 per cent of the 2024 batch comprises women. He described this as a powerful manifestation of Nari Shakti, demonstrating how talent can rise above stereotypes and determination can overcome barriers.

The Vice-President also urged the officers to embrace emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning and Blockchain to enhance administrative efficiency, transparency and citizen-centric service delivery. He underlined the importance of continuous learning, adaptability and remaining future-ready in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Stressing that character and integrity are the bedrock of public service, C. P. Radhakrishnan said that true leadership is not defined by authority, power or position, but by the courage and commitment to uphold ethical values, particularly when confronted with difficult choices.

Concluding his address, the Vice-President called upon the officers to give deeper meaning to their public service by transforming lives in the remotest corners of the country. He urged them to ensure that every grievance is heard, every citizen is empowered and the benefits of development reach those who need them most.

Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Gurmit Singh; Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Soldier Welfare, Government of Uttarakhand, Ganesh Joshi; and Director, LBSNAA, Dr. B. Rajender, were present on the occasion.
