Promoting
sportsmanship, environmental awareness and community bonding, a friendly
Day-Night T20 cricket match was organised between the Odisha State Pollution
Control Board (SPCB) and Jindal Steel Cricket Team at Angul.
The spirited
encounter witnessed enthusiastic participation from officials, employees and
members of the local community, showcasing teamwork and collaboration beyond
the workplace.
Batting first under
the captaincy of Sitakantha Sahu, the SPCB team put up a competitive total of
136 runs in 18.4 overs. Chasing the target, the Jindal Steel team, led by
Dhananjay Kumar Singh, displayed aggressive batting and successfully reached
140/5 in just 12.4 overs to register a convincing five-wicket victory.
Despite the defeat,
the SPCB team exhibited remarkable fighting spirit and delivered a commendable
all-round performance. Dibyaranjan Pradhan emerged as the star performer of the
match and was adjudged “Man of the Match” for his explosive knock of 52 runs
off just 21 balls.
Senior dignitaries
present on the occasion included Executive Director, Angul, P. K. Biju Nair;
Executive Director (Iron Zone), Damodar Mittal; and Vice President, EMD, Alok
Kumar Sahu from Jindal Steel, along with senior officials of the State
Pollution Control Board.
Welcoming the players, P. K. Biju Nair and Damodar Mittal encouraged the spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork. Biju Nair said that the State Pollution Control Board has been partnering with Jindal Steel in promoting environmental responsibility and creating a better future for coming generations.
Beyond the sporting excitement, the event also carried a strong message on environmental awareness within the local ecosystem, emphasizing the importance of maintaining excellent housekeeping standards and nurturing greenery across the plant premises.
