Reaffirming its
commitment to environmental sustainability and community-led conservation,
Dalmia Bharat Limited (DBL), one of India's leading cement manufacturers,
celebrated Van Mahotsav across its Rajgangpur and Cuttack operations through a
series of large-scale plantation drives and environmental awareness programmes.
The week-long
celebrations brought together students, teachers, local community members and
employees, reinforcing the importance of collective action in building a
greener and more sustainable future. As part of the initiative, the Company
planted over 1,550 saplings across communities surrounding its cement plants,
contributing to afforestation while promoting environmental awareness.
Van Mahotsav, India's
annual tree-planting festival, is observed nationwide to encourage
afforestation and biodiversity conservation. Dalmia Bharat's participation reflects
its continued focus on sustainability, ecological restoration and community
engagement.
In Rajgangpur, Dalmia
Bharat planted 1,250 saplings during Van Mahotsav Week. A major highlight was a
plantation and environmental awareness programme at Bihabandha School, where
more than 400 students and teachers participated in the presence of Asish
Mohanty, HR Head; Pankaj Gupta, Environment Head; Deepika Kerketta,
Headmistress; and members of the CSR team. The programme featured an
interactive awareness session on environmental conservation, followed by the
plantation of 250 saplings on the school campus.
In Cuttack, the
Company marked Van Mahotsav Week at Puratan Chhatra Sangha Pathagar, Tangi, by
organising a plantation drive and a drawing competition to encourage
environmental consciousness among young students. While 50 forest tree saplings
were planted during the event, the Company planted a total of 300 saplings
across the region during the week, further strengthening its efforts to enhance
green cover and promote ecological sustainability.
Speaking on the initiative, Chetan Shrivastav, Executive Director – DCBL and Unit Head, Rajgangpur, said: "Environmental stewardship is central to our vision of sustainable development. Through initiatives like Van Mahotsav, we seek to inspire communities — especially young students—to become active custodians of the environment. By combining awareness with meaningful action, we aim to foster a culture of environmental responsibility and contribute to creating a greener, healthier future for generations to come."
Environmental stewardship remains a cornerstone of Dalmia Bharat's sustainability strategy. Through biodiversity conservation, afforestation initiatives and collaborative efforts with local communities, the Company continues to create lasting environmental impact. As part of its 'Grey to Green' journey, Dalmia Bharat remains committed to achieving its ambition of becoming carbon negative by 2040.
