Asserting Odisha's emergence as the nation's "Energy Growth Engine," Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Energy Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Wednesday said the state is rapidly advancing its clean energy transition and industrial expansion, with an ambitious target of adding nearly 11 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

Addressing a high-level conference organised by the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA) as the Chief Guest, Singh Deo said Odisha, being a power-surplus state, is well-positioned to lead India's next phase of energy transformation while creating a robust ecosystem for sustainable industrial growth.

Aligning the state's vision with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Purvodaya" initiative aimed at driving national growth through Eastern India, Singh Deo stressed the need to extend industrial incentives directly to the energy sector to accelerate the development of a resilient and future-ready power infrastructure. He underlined that the next-generation power ecosystem must be built around smart grid technology, digital substations and AI-enabled asset management to ensure efficiency, reliability and cyber security.

Highlighting Odisha's enormous growth potential, the Deputy Chief Minister said the state is leveraging its massive investment pipeline of nearly ₹10 lakh crore, which is expected to generate unprecedented long-term demand for high-quality electrical equipment, transformers and smart transmission components. He pointed out that Odisha's strategic location at the geographical heart of Eastern India, coupled with strong port connectivity, offers an unparalleled advantage to electrical equipment manufacturers. Companies establishing manufacturing facilities in the state, he said, would enjoy a seamless logistical gateway to supply and export power infrastructure across Eastern and North-Eastern India as well as international markets.

Making a strong pitch to global investors, technology providers and equipment manufacturers, Singh Deo gave a clarion call to "Manufacture in Odisha, Innovate in Odisha, and Grow with Odisha." He assured investors of a stable policy framework, transparent governance and proactive institutional support from both the Energy and Industries Departments. Inviting industry leaders to become partners in Odisha's growth journey, he said the state is committed to building a modern, cyber-secure energy ecosystem that will power sustainable industrialisation and contribute significantly towards the shared vision of Viksit Odisha and Viksit Bharat 2047.

Odisha’s Industry Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, who also represented the state's industrial leadership at the conference, said Odisha has emerged as the preferred destination for green manufacturing and high-technology equipment suppliers owing to its robust industrial ecosystem, plug-and-play infrastructure and investor-friendly policies. He said the state's proactive governance model and industry-focused approach are creating immense opportunities for businesses seeking long-term growth in the clean energy and advanced manufacturing sectors.

The conference witnessed the participation of several distinguished leaders from the energy and industrial sectors, including Additional Chief Secretary of Industries Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of Energy Vishal Kumar Dev, Chairman and Managing Director of Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, Chairperson of the Central Electricity Authority Ghanshyam Prasad, IEEMA President Vikram Gandotra, IEEMA Director General Charu Mathur, IEEMA Eastern Region Chairman Utkarsh Bansal and Vice Chairman Parag Saraf, along with senior officers of the State Government.

The deliberations focused on strengthening collaboration between government and industry to accelerate Odisha's clean energy ambitions and reinforce its position as India's leading hub for future-ready power infrastructure and sustainable industrial development.
