DHAMRA, MARCH 10, 2026

Dhamra Port has achieved another significant milestone in its operational journey by successfully berthing and handling its first Cape size limestone vessel, MV Vega Dream, on 9th March 2026 at its newly constructed berth.

The vessel, which arrived on account of Tata Steel Limited, berthed safely at a draft of 17.14 meters, carrying a substantial cargo load of 158,603 metric tonnes of limestone. This marks the first time a Cape size vessel carrying limestone has been handled at the port, highlighting Dhamra Port’s growing capability to manage larger vessels and higher cargo volumes

The successful berthing and handling of MV Vega Dream at the newly developed berth demonstrates the port’s enhanced infrastructure and operational readiness. The berth has been designed to accommodate large Cape size vessels, significantly expanding the port’s cargo-handling capacity and strengthening its position as a key maritime gateway for bulk cargo operations on the eastern coast of India.
