Dhamra Port Company
Ltd. (DPCL) organised a community clean-up drive at the historic Dhamarai
Temple here under the aegis of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, reaffirming its
commitment to environmental stewardship, community participation and
sustainable development.
The initiative, held
in line with this year’s theme, “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Vikshit
Bharat”, sought to underline the importance of collective action in creating
clean, healthy and sustainable communities.
Around 120
participants, comprising employees of the organisation, business partners and
contractual workmen, took part in the cleanliness campaign. The volunteers
cleaned the temple premises and adjoining areas and helped promote responsible
waste handling and greater awareness about maintaining clean public spaces.
The drive also
provided an opportunity for DPCL to engage with the local community and
reinforce the message that cleanliness is not a one-day exercise but a
continuous habit and a shared responsibility.
The coordinated
effort resulted in the collection of approximately 460 kg of garbage and waste
from the temple premises and surrounding areas. The substantial quantity of waste
removed highlighted the tangible impact that organised community participation
can have on the cleanliness of public spaces.
The initiative underscored the role of collective responsibility in advancing the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission. It also reflected the company’s continued efforts to partner with local communities on initiatives aimed at promoting environmental responsibility, social well-being and sustainable development.
“Small actions, when supported by collective participation, can make a significant difference in creating cleaner, healthier and more sustainable communities,” the company said.
