Bringing cheer to air
travellers in Odisha, direct international flight services between Bhubaneswar
and Bangkok are set to resume from October 2 after a prolonged gap, with IndiGo
operating the twice-weekly service, official sources said.
The resumption of the
direct connection from Biju Patnaik International Airport is expected to
provide a major fillip to Odisha’s air connectivity and offer passengers a more
convenient option for travel between the state and Thailand.
As per the initial
schedule, flights from Bangkok will arrive in Bhubaneswar on Tuesdays and
Saturdays, while services from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok will operate on Mondays
and Fridays.
The schedule will,
however, undergo a change after October 26. Under the revised timetable,
flights from Bangkok will arrive in Bhubaneswar on Mondays and Thursdays, while
departures from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok will be operated on Tuesdays and
Fridays.
The direct service is
expected to benefit not only passengers from Odisha but also travellers from
neighbouring regions, who could use Bhubaneswar as a convenient gateway for
international travel.
With the state
capital potentially emerging as an important connectivity hub under a
'hub-and-spoke' model, passengers from different cities may gain easier access
to international destinations through Bhubaneswar.
The renewed
international connectivity is also expected to support greater movement of
tourists, business travellers and other passengers between Odisha and Bangkok,
while strengthening the state's position on the international aviation map.
Airfares for the service may vary depending on travel dates and ticket availability, with online fares subject to change.
The resumption of the Bhubaneswar-Bangkok connection is expected to further strengthen Odisha's air network and facilitate smoother international travel for passengers from the state and adjoining regions.
