The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade
(DPIIT) has entered into Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with PhonePe and
Shell India Pvt Ltd to deepen support for recognised startups and accelerate
innovation across key sectors of the economy.
The agreements, signed on August 19, seek to expand startups'
access to technology, digital infrastructure, mentorship, market opportunities
and industry networks, strengthening the foundations of a robust, inclusive and
self-reliant startup ecosystem.
Under its partnership with DPIIT, PhonePe will offer
recognised startups transaction credits through its Payment Gateway, access to
the Indus AppStore, dedicated onboarding and support services, besides
opportunities to enhance brand visibility.
PhonePe will also organise regular masterclasses and webinars
covering fintech, sales, go-to-market strategies and business scaling, aimed at
equipping emerging enterprises with the capabilities needed to expand
operations and accelerate growth.
The MoU with Shell India, meanwhile, focuses on startups
working in the energy and climate-tech space, with the partnership providing
avenues for mentorship, strategic guidance, investor and incubator connects and
participation in the Shell E4 Smart Energy Track.
The collaboration is expected to open up new growth
opportunities for startups developing innovative energy and climate solutions,
while helping them scale technologies that can contribute to India's clean
energy transition.
Beyond direct startup support, the Shell India partnership
will facilitate wider ecosystem development through sectoral success stories,
white papers, policy briefs, industry landscape reports and case studies
showcasing emerging innovations and best practices.
The twin partnerships are expected to bridge startups with
digital platforms, industry expertise, mentorship, markets and investment
networks, creating stronger pathways for sustainable scale-up and innovation.
