participation from women employees of NTPC Bongaigaon, members of the Bardwi
Shikla Ladies Club, women personnel of CISF, and teachers from Notre Dame
School and Ankur Tiny Tots School. The programme was organised around the
themes #GiveToGain and #SheLeadsBharat, symbolising the spirit of empowerment,
leadership, and collective growth.
Addressing the
gathering, Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon, appreciated the
dedication, resilience, and achievements of women employees and acknowledged their
invaluable contribution to the growth and success of the organisation. He
emphasised the importance of fostering an enabling and inclusive work
environment where women are encouraged to excel, lead with confidence, and
contribute meaningfully to organisational progress.
Amit Kumar Asthana,
HOHR, NTPC Bongaigaon, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the vital
role played by women in strengthening the organisation and shaping a
progressive and inclusive workplace culture. He also emphasised the importance
of recognising women’s achievements and encouraging greater participation in
leadership and decision-making roles.
A key highlight of
the programme was an engaging and informative session on Financial Planning
delivered by Priyanka Nahata from IntyGritty MoneyTree, an AMFI Registered
Mutual Fund Distributor and financial advisory firm based in Bongaigaon, Assam.
Nahata shared valuable insights on financial awareness, smart investment
practices, wealth creation, and the importance of financial independence,
particularly for women, encouraging participants to take proactive steps toward
secure financial futures.
The programme also
featured an inspiring Experience Sharing session, during which participants
shared their personal journeys, challenges, and achievements. Their stories of
determination and perseverance inspired fellow participants and reinforced the
importance of mutual support and motivation among women in both personal and
professional spheres. A lively Women’s Day Quiz added a fun and interactive
dimension to the celebration, with enthusiastic participation from the
audience.
Another major
highlight of the celebrations was the Women’s Premier League Cricket
Tournament, organised for women employees, family members, and members of the
Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club in association with the Sports Council of NTPC
Bongaigaon. The tournament, which commenced on the occasion, features four
teams named after the prominent rivers of Assam — Brahmaputra Brigade, Champa
Challengers, Manas Mavericks, and Aie Aces — creating an atmosphere of
excitement, teamwork, and healthy sporting competition among the participants.
The tournament will
continue for the next ten days, encouraging wider participation among women of
the NTPC township while promoting fitness, sportsmanship, and team spirit. The
sports event commenced with a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony and the release
of multi-coloured balloons by the participating teams in the presence of Anurag
Gupta, GM (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon, symbolising celebration, unity, and
collective strength.
Adding further energy
to the celebrations, a “Shakti Walk” was also organised, during which the four
teams walked together to promote the spirit of strength, solidarity, and
women’s leadership within the community.
Another attraction of the programme was a demonstration by an EV bike manufacturer which showcased electric scooters along with attractive offers for women employees of NTPC and other participants. The demonstration aimed to create awareness about sustainable mobility solutions and encourage environmentally responsible transportation choices.
The celebrations concluded with gift distribution, a group photograph, and a cake-cutting ceremony, followed by a community lunch, marking a joyful and memorable culmination of the International Women’s Day celebrations at NTPC Bongaigaon. More than 100 ladies from the NTPC Bongaigaon township participated in the event, making it a vibrant and engaging celebration of empowerment, sports, learning, and camaraderie.
