Patriotism and a deep sense of national pride filled the
Gandhi Peace Centre in Bhubaneswar as it celebrated India’s 80th Independence
Day, paying heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and remembering his historic
and inspirational role in India’s freedom struggle. The celebration brought
together students, senior citizens, members of the community and employees in a
vibrant expression of unity, national spirit and respect for the country’s
glorious journey to freedom.
The Gandhi Peace Centre, managed by the Aditya Birla Group in
partnership with the Government of Odisha, witnessed enthusiastic participation
from a large number of NCC cadets and Scouts and Guides, inmates of Jeevanjyoti
Ashram, an orphanage based in Khandagiri, as well as members of a nearby old
age home. Their presence added a special dimension to the occasion, bringing
together different generations and sections of society under the tricolour.
President and Head of Aditya Birla Group, Odisha, Ardhendu
Mohapatra, hoisted the national flag at the Gandhi Peace Centre, marking the
beginning of the Independence Day celebrations. The unfurling of the Tricolour
was followed by the chanting of the National Anthem and National Song, creating
an atmosphere charged with patriotic emotion and reverence for the nation.
Several senior citizens, members of the Gandhi Peace Centre team and employees of the Aditya Birla Group also joined the celebrations. The gathering served as a poignant reminder that the values of freedom, peace, unity and social responsibility remain as relevant today as they were during India’s struggle for independence.
Remembering Mahatma Gandhi at the Gandhi Peace Centre on Independence Day added profound significance to the celebrations.
