Reinforcing its commitment to
inclusive growth and community welfare, GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL)
rolled out its impactful ‘Sahayog Ustav’, a CSR initiative designed to uplift
workers and empower local communities through meaningful support in mobility,
education and livelihoods.
The initiative saw the distribution of
bicycles to 60 workers commuting from nearby villages, significantly easing
their daily travel while promoting a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.
The event, hosted at the GKEL Administrative Building, underscored the
company’s continued focus on creating a supportive and inclusive workplace
ecosystem.
Gracing the occasion as chief guest,
Lalit Mohan Behera, Additional District Magistrate of Dhenkanal, lauded GKEL’s
sustained efforts in improving the quality of life across Mangalpur and
Kamalanga Panchayats. He also took part in distributing 10 laptops to
meritorious college students, 50 wrist watches to girl students, and sewing
machines to local women — measures aimed at fostering education, encouraging
punctuality, and strengthening livelihood opportunities.
Senior GKEL leaders, including Manoj
Mishra, Project Director, and Raghunath PV, Plant Head, expressed their
gratitude for the administration’s support and reiterated their commitment to
the well-being of workers and surrounding communities.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Satyapriya Sahu, Programme Leader at the GMR Varalakshmi Foundation.
Notably, GKEL employees and partner agencies collectively contributed funds during ‘Sahayog Ustav’ to bolster initiatives in education, healthcare and livelihood enhancement. With such grassroots-driven interventions, GKEL continues to set a strong example of responsible corporate citizenship, fostering unity, development and long-term community resilience in the region.
