The government has
extended the operational timelines under the RELIEF (Resilience & Logistics
Intervention for Export Facilitation) intervention to provide continued support
to Indian exporters amid persistent geopolitical disruptions affecting maritime
logistics across West Asia and the Gulf region.
The Department of
Commerce, through Notification No. 37/2026-27 dated September 30, extended the
timelines under Component II of RELIEF, a time-bound intervention launched
under the Export Promotion Mission (EPM).
Component II seeks to
encourage exporters to secure ECGC cover for upcoming shipments to specified
regions, with 95 per cent risk coverage. The benefit is available for Stand
Alone Policies or Whole Turnover Policies obtained on or after March 16, 2026.
The component covers
Full Container Load (FCL), Less than Container Load (LCL) and reefer container
shipments, excluding energy shipments. It also provides protection to exporters
against an increase in insurance premiums, ensuring that the premium paid
during the eligible period does not exceed the pre-disruption level.
The RELIEF intervention was launched on March 19, 2026, as a targeted measure to assist Indian exporters facing extraordinary increases in freight costs, higher insurance premiums and war-related export risks arising from disruptions along the Gulf and wider West Asia maritime corridor.
The extension comes as continued geopolitical uncertainty poses challenges to maritime trade and supply chains in the region. The government said the move is aimed at strengthening export resilience, sustaining trade flows and providing greater support to exporters navigating elevated logistics and geopolitical risks.
