Greenply Industries Ltd on Wednesday announced a partnership with green logistics operator GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd to integrate LNG-powered trucks into its outbound logistics operations, extending its sustainability efforts beyond manufacturing to the movement of its products.

The partnership was formally launched with the flag-off of GreenLine’s LNG-powered trucks at Greenply’s Vadodara manufacturing facility. Under the initiative, the plywood and allied products maker will use GreenLine’s green logistics network to transport goods from Vadodara to destinations across its distribution network.

The move brings alternative-fuel transportation into Greenply’s logistics operations at a time when cleaner mobility solutions are gaining increasing relevance in India’s commercial transport sector.

GreenLine said its LNG-powered trucks can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 40 per cent, sulphur oxides by up to 100 per cent, nitrogen oxides by up to 59 per cent, particulate matter by up to 91 per cent and carbon monoxide by up to 70 per cent, compared with conventional diesel-based transportation, depending on vehicle configuration, fuel quality and operating conditions.

 “At Greenply, we believe that sustainability is not limited to what happens within our manufacturing facilities. It also extends to how our products and materials move through the value chain,” Greenply Joint Managing Director Sanidhya Mittal said.

The introduction of LNG-powered trucks at the Vadodara facility is a first step towards exploring more responsible mobility solutions within the company’s logistics operations, he added.

 “As we continue on this journey, we will look at opportunities to adopt solutions that bring savings and balance environmental considerations with the efficiency and reliability of our supply chain,” Mittal said.

GreenLine Mobility Solutions CEO Madhur Taneja said the partnership would help advance cleaner freight transportation by providing a practical alternative that can be integrated into existing supply chains without compromising operational efficiency.

 “Our LNG-powered fleet offers businesses an opportunity to take a meaningful step towards greener road freight, and we are proud to support Greenply in this journey,” Taneja said.

GreenLine operates a fleet of more than 1,000 LNG- and electric-powered heavy commercial vehicles across major freight corridors, serving sectors such as steel, cement, mining, FMCG and chemicals. Its fleet has collectively covered more than 100 million kilometres and helped customers reduce over 27,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions, according to the company.

For Greenply, the initiative also provides an opportunity to assess the operational feasibility of alternative-fuel transportation across its dispatch network. The company said it will continue evaluating opportunities to incorporate more responsible mobility solutions across its logistics ecosystem based on operational requirements and learnings from the initiative.
