Gujarat and Odisha are exploring opportunities to forge industrial partnerships by linking Odisha’s established metals and minerals sectors with Gujarat’s expanding semiconductor, renewable energy and advanced manufacturing industries, as the western state steps up preparations for the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2027.

The proposed collaboration aims to promote investment, facilitate technology partnerships and strengthen inter-state supply chains, with the possibilities discussed at a roadshow for the summit held here.

The event brought together industry representatives and government officials from the two states to explore avenues for cooperation and identify emerging business opportunities.

Ahead of the roadshow, Gujarat Minister of State for Industries and MSMEs Jayram Gamit and Labour, Skill Development and Employment Department Secretary Lochan Sehra held meetings with representatives of companies and institutions to discuss ways to deepen industrial engagement between Gujarat and Odisha.

Addressing the gathering, Gamit highlighted the complementary strengths of the two states, noting that Odisha’s established minerals, metals and aluminium industries could find new avenues for growth through collaboration with Gujarat’s industrial infrastructure, port connectivity, semiconductor ecosystem and renewable energy capabilities.

“Odisha has established itself as a leading centre for Minerals, Metal and aluminum. Gujarat brings its own strengths in industrial infrastructure, ports, semiconductors, renewable energy and global connectivity. I firmly believe that by bringing together our industries, entrepreneurs and young talent, we can create new opportunities for innovation, employment and shared prosperity,” he said.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, such collective efforts would further strengthen the journey towards ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’, Gamit added.

According to the Gujarat government, the state accounts for 17 per cent of India’s manufacturing output and 25 per cent of its merchandise exports, underscoring its role as a major industrial and export hub.

The roadshow highlighted the potential to connect Odisha’s resource-rich industrial base with Gujarat’s growing semiconductor, advanced manufacturing and logistics sectors, opening up possibilities for business partnerships, technology exchange and wider market access.

A presentation on VGGS 2027 by Sehra outlined the upcoming summit, while a screening showcased Gujarat’s semiconductor ecosystem, textiles and renewable energy sectors. Industry representatives also shared their experiences and perspectives on business opportunities and industrial development in the state.

The 11th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit will be held in Gandhinagar from January 10 to 12, 2027, under the theme “Viksit Gujarat – Shaping Global Future”.

The Gujarat government has invited businesses, start-ups and industry institutions from Odisha to participate in the summit and explore partnerships aimed at boosting industrial cooperation, attracting investments and strengthening inter-state supply chains.
