Reinforcing its
commitment to sustainable rural development and women empowerment, Hindalco
Industries Limited, Hirakud Complex, has continued to expand livelihood
opportunities for farmers through its Corporate Social Responsibility
initiative, Project Vasudha. The programme aims to strengthen agriculture-based
income sources and enhance economic resilience among rural communities in the
Hirakud region.
Working under the
guidance of Unit Head Sumit Mukherjee and the supervision of Head – Human
Resources Vishwas Shinde, Project Vasudha has been actively promoting
diversified livelihood activities such as crop farming, dairy farming, goat
rearing, fisheries, mushroom cultivation, and vegetable production. The
initiative focuses on equipping farmers with resources that can generate stable
and long-term income.
As part of the latest
outreach effort, Hindalco Hirakud distributed high-quality milch cows to two
women farmers, Nalini Mahakud of Mohammadpur village and Sunita Parekh of R.R.
Colony. The support is expected to significantly enhance their earning capacity
through dairy farming while strengthening household financial security. By
enabling women farmers to access productive assets, the initiative also
promotes self-reliance and encourages entrepreneurship in rural areas.
Hindalco Hirakud has
previously extended similar assistance to farmers by providing livestock including
cows, poultry, and goats, helping improve livelihood opportunities and raising
income levels for several rural families. These sustained efforts reflect the
company’s broader vision of fostering inclusive growth and supporting community
welfare.
Expressing
appreciation for the initiative, beneficiaries Sunita Parekh and Nalini Mahakud
thanked the Hindalco management for the timely support, stating that the
assistance would help improve their family’s economic condition and provide a
stable source of livelihood in the coming years.
