Hindalco Industries
on Sunday dismissed media reports suggesting that it had halted aluminium
product sales amid the ongoing West Asia crisis, clarifying that its aluminium
extrusions operations continue and that the company’s overall business remains
largely unaffected.
In a statement, the
company said the recent communication sent to customers was a routine business
intimation regarding the possibility of supply disruptions following force
majeure declarations by certain gas suppliers. The company stressed that the
notice was precautionary in nature and should not be interpreted as a shutdown
of operations.
Responding to reports
linking the development to tensions involving Iran, the aluminium major
described such claims as “factually incorrect and misleading.” It reiterated
that there has been no halt in the operations of its Aluminium Extrusions
business and that the communication was simply meant to inform customers about
a potential supply issue arising from third-party gas suppliers.
Hindalco further
clarified that even in the unlikely event of a disruption, the impact would be
limited to a very small portion of its Aluminium Extrusions segment, accounting
for less than 0.1 percent of the company’s overall operations. The company
emphasized that all other upstream and downstream activities, including primary
aluminium production and related businesses, are continuing normally.
Amid evolving geopolitical developments affecting global trade and economic sentiment, the company assured stakeholders that there is currently no impact on its overall operations or financial performance. It also stated that it will make timely disclosures in accordance with listing regulations should any material developments arise.
The clarification comes after a report claimed that the company had halted aluminium product sales due to the ongoing crisis in West Asia, a claim Hindalco has firmly rejected while reaffirming business continuity across its operations.
