In a strategic leadership move aimed at deepening cross-border economic engagement, the Indo Caribbean Chamber of Commerce for Development (ICCCD) has appointed noted economist Shivdutt Das as its Global President.

The appointment signals ICCCD’s renewed push to strengthen economic linkages between Indo-Caribbean communities and global markets, with a sharp focus on boosting trade, investment flows, and sustainable development initiatives.

Das brings with him a wealth of experience in economics, infrastructure finance, and international business, having worked across diverse geographies including India, Japan, the Middle East, Qatar, and the Caribbean. His global exposure is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing ICCCD’s outreach and execution capabilities.

Under his leadership, the chamber is set to prioritize public-private partnerships, foster cultural-economic collaborations, and unlock new opportunities for diaspora-led enterprises. Industry observers believe this could significantly enhance bilateral trade ecosystems and create a more structured platform for Indo-Caribbean business engagement.

“We are thrilled to have Shivdutt Das lead ICCCD into a prosperous era of collaboration and growth,” an ICCCD spokesperson said, expressing confidence that his vision and expertise will align with the chamber’s long-term mission of inclusive economic development.

The appointment comes at a time when global trade dynamics are evolving rapidly, positioning ICCCD to play a more influential role in connecting emerging markets with diaspora-driven economic networks.
