"IIFT continues to play a pivotal
role in shaping India's international trade and management landscape,"
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said while congratulating the
Indian Institute of Foreign Trade on its 63rd Foundation Day, underscoring the
institute's enduring contribution to the nation's global trade, policy and
management ecosystem.
In a message marking the occasion,
Goyal lauded IIFT for its sustained excellence in education, research and
capacity building, describing it as a premier institution that has
significantly strengthened India's position in international commerce. He
highlighted the institute's vital role in nurturing business leaders, policy
thinkers and trade professionals who continue to contribute to India's
expanding global footprint.
Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal also
congratulated the institute, noting that IIFT has consistently advanced India's
trade ambitions through world-class education, impactful research and robust
policy engagement. He said the institute's presence across New Delhi, Kolkata,
Kakinada and GIFT City reflects its growing global outlook and commitment to
academic excellence.
Chairman of the National Board of
Accreditation and National Educational Technology Forum, Anil Sahasrabudhe, who
attended as the chief guest, stressed the need for multilingual courses to
broaden access to quality education. Referring to today's VUCA world, he said
IIFT's academic offerings are highly relevant in preparing future leaders for
an increasingly complex and dynamic global business environment.
Vice Chancellor Rakesh Mohan Joshi
highlighted the institute's recent academic strides, including the successful
organisation of five major conferences and the inaugural Vice-Chancellors'
Conclave 2026 on internationalisation of higher education. He also announced
the launch of the Pitch Perfect Australia–India Business Compendium under
IIFT's Case Research Centre.
A major highlight of the celebration
was the unveiling of IIFT's revamped website, designed to enhance accessibility,
user experience and digital engagement for students, faculty, researchers and
stakeholders. The institute also felicitated Lt. Col. Trivedi Paragkumar, an
IIFT student, for receiving the Vishisht Seva Medal.
The event concluded with cultural
performances and honours for retired employees and staff members who have
completed 25 years of dedicated service.
