CHISNAU (MOLDOVA), JULY 20, 2026

Aligning with India's vision of expanding global economic engagement, President Droupadi Murmu on Monday said that India offers excellent business opportunities to Moldovan companies for trade and investment, while urging businesses from both nations to explore new avenues of collaboration. Addressing the India–Moldova Business Forum in Chișinău alongside Moldovan President Maia Sandu, she emphasized that stronger commercial partnerships would pave the way for enhanced bilateral economic cooperation and shared prosperity.

In her inaugural address, President Murmu highlighted that India and Moldova have shared warm and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992. She said the partnership is founded on mutual respect, democratic values and a common commitment to peace, development and international cooperation.

Highlighting India's growth trajectory, the President said that as the country advances towards its vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, it seeks partnerships built on trust and shared prosperity. She noted that India is among the world's fastest-growing major economies, powered by entrepreneurship, digital transformation, manufacturing excellence and a young, skilled workforce. At the same time, she described Moldova as an attractive destination for Indian businesses due to its reform-oriented outlook, strategic location, talented human capital and increasing integration with European markets.

President Murmu underlined the vast scope for collaboration in sectors such as digital technologies, artificial intelligence, cyber-security, fintech, digital public infrastructure, infrastructure development, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, food processing, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and healthcare. She also said Indian companies are keen to participate in Moldova's renewable energy projects, including solar energy, battery storage, smart grids, green hydrogen and other clean technologies.

Reiterating India's commitment to strengthening economic ties, the President said the country remains dedicated to providing a transparent, predictable and investor-friendly business environment. She invited Moldovan companies to explore the vast opportunities available in India for trade and investment.

She also encouraged Indian businesses to tap into emerging opportunities in Moldova, stating that their enterprise, vision and commitment would play a crucial role in building enduring economic partnerships. Expressing confidence in the outcomes of the Business Forum, President Murmu said the interactions between industry leaders would lay the foundation for new partnerships and innovative collaborations, taking India–Moldova economic cooperation to new heights.

The India–Moldova Business Forum brought together leading business representatives from both countries representing key sectors, including agriculture and food processing, information technology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, renewable energy, education, logistics and digital technologies.
