The Ministry of Tourism on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with InterGlobe Aviation Ltd, which operates IndiGo, to jointly promote India as a preferred global tourism destination through a strategic collaboration aimed at expanding the country's tourism outreach across domestic and international markets.

The non-exclusive and non-financial partnership seeks to leverage the Ministry's flagship Incredible India brand and IndiGo's extensive domestic and international network to enhance India's visibility as a leading travel destination.

The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, senior officials of the Ministry of Tourism and executives from IndiGo.

Addressing the event, Shekhawat said the partnership would strengthen India's tourism promotion efforts by combining the Ministry's branding initiatives with IndiGo's wide connectivity and customer reach.

He said collaborative initiatives of this nature would help take India's tourism message to a larger global audience and reinforce the country's position as one of the world's most compelling travel destinations.

Under the agreement, the Ministry and IndiGo will jointly roll out a global communication campaign titled "Incredible India by IndiGo", highlighting the country's diverse tourism offerings, including cultural heritage, natural landscapes, spiritual and wellness tourism, adventure travel, wildlife and other experiential destinations.

The campaign will be promoted through multiple channels, including digital and print media, airport branding, in-flight platforms, social media and international travel exhibitions.

As part of the collaboration, the Ministry will provide access to Incredible India brand assets and promotional content while facilitating coordination with stakeholders to support campaign activities.

IndiGo will develop destination-centric content and amplify India's tourism messaging across its customer engagement platforms. The airline and the Ministry will also undertake joint destination-focused campaigns and tourism promotion initiatives in key domestic and overseas markets.

The MoU will remain valid for an initial period of two years.

The partnership reflects the shared commitment of the Ministry of Tourism and IndiGo to enhance India's global tourism profile, increase international tourist arrivals and position the country as a premier tourism destination.
