Italian fashion
retailer OVS has opened its largest store in India at Mumbai's R City Mall in
Ghatkopar, spanning around 12,400 square feet, as the company steps up its
retail expansion in the country with plans to launch four more outlets by the
end of 2027.
The new store, which
opened on October 23, marks a significant milestone in the Italian brand's India
journey, offering an expanded portfolio of fashion collections and an enhanced
shopping experience as it seeks to tap into the country's growing appetite for
contemporary, affordable and quality apparel.
The flagship-style
outlet brings together womenswear, menswear and kidswear collections across the
OVS, PIOMBO, Les Copains, B.Angel and OVS Kids brands. It also introduces MYA,
the company's curve collection, to the Indian market, broadening its offerings
and strengthening its focus on inclusive fashion.
The expansion comes
as international fashion retailers increasingly look to India to tap into its
large consumer base, evolving fashion preferences and growing demand for
organised retail experiences.
"The opening of
our largest store in India reflects our objective to build a meaningful and
long-term presence in the market. With a flagship-style experience and a
broader portfolio of brands, we aim to enrich the customer experience and to
make contemporary Italian style accessible to Indian consumers while offering
them greater choice across categories," Sundeep Chugh, Managing Director
of OVS India, said at the launch.
Mumbai remains an
important market for the company as it looks to strengthen its retail footprint
and explore further growth opportunities, he added.
OVS entered India in
2025 with its first store at Pacific Mall in New Delhi, followed by its Mumbai
debut at Sky City Mall in Borivali in March 2026. The R City Mall outlet
expands its presence in the country's financial capital, where the company sees
scope to connect with a diverse consumer base.
The retailer plans to
open four additional stores by the end of 2027, taking its total network in
India to seven outlets. Its expansion roadmap covers Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and
adjoining markets such as Thane, Navi Mumbai and Vashi, besides Pune, Surat,
Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Chandigarh.
The company intends
to focus on suitable shopping mall destinations in Tier I cities and select
Tier II markets, as it seeks to establish a wider presence while building on
its initial expansion in the country.
At the core of OVS's
brand philosophy is the claim "Love People. Not Labels", which
positions fashion as an accessible and inclusive form of personal expression
rather than a marker of social status. The company follows a "House of
Collections" model, bringing together brands with distinct identities,
aesthetics and target communities under a common strategic umbrella.
The broader portfolio
allows the group to cater to different consumer preferences across age groups
and fashion categories while retaining its focus on affordability, design and
quality.
Globally, OVS
operates more than 2,600 stores across several markets. The Italian clothing
group serves men, women and children and also has a presence in beauty and home
decoration through its portfolio of proprietary brands.
The group, whose
brands include OVS and Upim alongside PIOMBO, OVS Kids, Les Copains, Blukids,
Stefanel, Goldenpoint, CROFF and Shaka, has expanded its presence across the
fashion and lifestyle segments.
Listed on Euronext
Milan since 2015, OVS recorded sales of 1.746 billion euros in 2025 and
reported EBITDA of more than 218 million euros, underlining the scale of its
international operations.
Alongside its retail expansion, the company is pursuing responsible fashion initiatives focused on responsible sourcing, water-efficient processes and the use of recyclable materials.
Mumbai outlet and four more stores planned over the next year, OVS is looking to build a stronger foothold in India's competitive apparel market by combining Italian-inspired design, a wider range of collections and an accessible retail proposition.
