Jindal Steel paid a heartfelt tribute to its founder, Shri O.P. Jindal, fondly remembered as ‘Bauji’ by the Jindal Parivaar, on his 96th birth anniversary on August 7, with a series of spiritual, cultural, sporting and community initiatives across its Badabil Pellet Plant, Kasia, Tensa and Roida-I Iron Mines (BKTR) units.

The celebrations reflected the enduring legacy of O.P. Jindal, whose vision, values and commitment to nation-building continue to inspire generations of employees, their families and communities associated with the Jindal group.

At the Badabil Pellet Plant, the celebrations began with puja and havan at the Deveshwar Mahadev Temple in the township, followed by a floral tribute to the founder. Unit Head Satish Sinduria, S.K. Sharma, Vice President, Head HR & ES Bikash Ghosh, senior executives, employees and their family members participated in the programme. The celebrations continued in the evening with a ‘Bhajan Sandhya’ at the township. The Jindal Nagar Ladies Club also organised a special tribute programme in honour of Bauji at the JSPLEX Community Hall.

At the Kasia Iron Mine, employees and their families observed the occasion with puja and havan at the township temple. Cluster Head, BKTR Units, Pramod Kumar Patra, along with senior executives, employees and their family members, participated in the celebrations. A colourful cultural programme was subsequently organised at Kasia Township to commemorate the founder’s birth anniversary.

The Tensa Unit also observed the occasion with religious rituals at its township temple in the presence of Unit Head Rajesh Patel, employees and their families. As part of the community outreach initiatives, the CSR team distributed school bags to tribal students of Government SSD High School, Dengula, in the presence of the Unit Head, village leaders and teachers.

Paying tribute to his father, Naveen Jindal, Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra and Chairman of Jindal Steel, said in a post on X: “Success is not determined by circumstances, but by resolve, courage, and action. Bauji, your thoughts and values continue to light our path even today.”

He further wrote: “On the 96th birth anniversary of the revered Bauji Shri Om Prakash Jindal Ji, I pay my heartfelt tribute to him. His thoughts and ideals continue to inspire the Jindal family and millions of Indians on the path of nation-building.”

The Jindal Foundation also marked the occasion through a range of community sports, educational and welfare initiatives involving villagers and schoolchildren under the leadership of CSR Head Vargil Lakra. Debate, quiz, drawing and essay-writing competitions were organised at nearby schools, providing students an opportunity to showcase their creativity and knowledge.

Jindal School, Soyabali, Badabil, celebrated its Foundation Day with a vibrant programme featuring cultural performances by students. National and international Wushu champions were felicitated by Cluster Head Pramod Kumar Patra and Badabil Unit Head Satish Sinduria in recognition of their achievements. Nutritious food was also distributed among hundreds of students at the Adivasi Vikas Samiti.

The programme was attended by Padma Shri Tulasi Munda, along with prominent villagers and community representatives.

The commemorations across the BKTR units served as a reaffirmation of O.P. Jindal’s enduring legacy of integrity, courage, service and inclusive development, with employees and communities coming together to remember a visionary whose ideals continue to shape the Jindal family’s journey.
