Reaffirming its strong commitment to occupational health and workplace safety, Jindal Steel observed the 55th National Safety Week with a series of awareness and engagement activities at its integrated steel facility in Angul. Celebrated under the theme “Engage, Educate and Empower People to Enhance Safety,” the week-long observance underscored the importance of awareness, knowledge sharing, and active participation in fostering a responsible and safe working environment across the organization.

The concluding ceremony of the Safety Week celebrations was held at Eden Gardens in Jindal Nagar and was graced by Dr. Ramesh Chandra Behera, Deputy Director of Factories & Boilers, Angul Division, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he appreciated the company’s proactive initiatives to strengthen workplace safety and commended its efforts in engaging employees in safety-driven practices that contribute to a secure industrial ecosystem.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the company’s senior leadership, including P. K. Biju Nair, Angul Location Head and Executive Director; Damodar Mittal, Executive Director (Iron Zone); Hridayeshwar Jha, Executive Director (SMS & Mills); Jitendra Parida, AVP – Head Safety & EMD; and Yoga Guru Swami Satyabindu Saraswati. Heads of Departments, employees, and business partners from across the plant also joined the celebrations in large numbers, collectively reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the organization’s culture of safety and operational excellence.

Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director P. K. Biju Nair emphasized that while the company is equipped with world-class equipment and resources, true safety can only be achieved through the commitment and responsible actions of every individual at the workplace. He noted that safety must never be compromised under any circumstances and urged employees to set industry benchmarks by maintaining a secure and disciplined work environment.

Throughout the week, a variety of activities and competitions were organized to promote awareness about safe work practices and encourage greater employee participation. These included street plays highlighting safety messages, the Suraksha Rath awareness vehicle campaign, interactive safety talks, installation of safety awareness stalls, and quiz competitions focused on workplace safety standards and best practices.

As part of the celebrations, the company also recognized and rewarded employees who demonstrated exceptional performance in various safety-related activities conducted during the week. Their contributions were acknowledged as examples of proactive safety leadership within the organization.

In addition to the main plant activities, Shree Bhumi Power Plant (SBPP) also observed National Safety Week with equal enthusiasm, further reinforcing the company’s commitment to embedding safety principles across all its operations.

The successful observance of the 55th National Safety Week stands as a testament to the strong safety culture at Jindal Steel and the collective resolve of its workforce to uphold the highest standards of occupational safety, health, and well-being, while continuing to strengthen the foundation for sustainable and responsible industrial growth.
