Reinforcing its position as Odisha's most preferred digital
service provider, Reliance Jio emerged as the only telecom operator to register
positive subscriber growth in the state during May 2026, according to the
latest telecom subscription data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority
of India (TRAI).
Jio added more than one lakh new mobile and home broadband
subscribers during the month, including over 94,000 new mobile subscribers and
more than 13,500 home broadband subscribers. In contrast, all other telecom
operators in Odisha witnessed a decline, collectively losing thousands of
mobile subscribers during the same period.
The TRAI data shows that Odisha's overall mobile subscriber
base increased by over 49,000 in May, reaching 3.84 crore, with Jio being the
sole contributor to the net growth.
The company further strengthened its leadership in the home
broadband segment, driven by the growing popularity of JioAirFiber across the
state. By adding over 13,500 new home broadband customers in May, Jio
consolidated its dominance across all three major segments — wireless, wireline
and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA).
Jio now serves more than 1.88 crore mobile subscribers in
Odisha, along with over 3.77 lakh JioFiber subscribers and more than 4 lakh
JioAirFiber subscribers. The rapid expansion of JioAirFiber has enabled
high-speed broadband connectivity to reach thousands of households in small
towns and rural areas, accelerating digital inclusion across the state's
hinterland.
The latest TRAI figures also underscore Jio's strong
nationwide growth. Across India, the company added more than 25 lakh new
subscribers in May 2026, including over 21.5 lakh new mobile subscribers and
more than 5 lakh home broadband subscribers. Of these, over 4 lakh were new
JioAirFiber connections.
With its advanced technology, robust digital infrastructure
and customer-centric approach, Jio continues to play a pivotal role in driving
Odisha's digital transformation across both urban and rural regions.
Further enhancing its digital entertainment offerings, Jio has recently launched the new Rs. 200 Jio OTT Pass — a 28-day pack that provides access to 15 premium OTT platforms, over 1,000 live TV channels on JioTV, 30 GB of high-speed data and unlimited 5G for the duration of the user's base plan validity.
The pack includes access to premium OTT platforms such as YouTube Premium, JioHotstar Mobile + Hollywood, Prime Video Mobile Edition, and 12 additional streaming services available through JioTV, including SonyLiv, ZEE5, Lionsgate Play, Discovery+, Tarang Plus, Sun NXT, FanCode, KancchaLannka, Planet Marathi, Chaupal, Hoichoi and TimesPlay.
