Reliance Jio has
introduced JioShield, a family
safety solution aimed at helping users stay connected with and safeguard
children and elderly family members, as part of its 10th anniversary
celebrations.
Priced at ₹1,000 for an
annual subscription, equivalent to about ₹83 a month, JioShield
combines location and safety alerts, SOS notifications, screen-time controls
and app and contact management in a single connected platform.
Under the special
10th anniversary offer, eligible customers will receive a ₹1,000 Jio recharge voucher,
effectively offsetting the annual JioShield
subscription cost. The offer also includes a 12-month Canva Pro subscription
valued at ₹4,000 and an unlimited 5G upgrade for 28 days.
JioShield
is designed to help parents remain connected with their children and elderly
family members while allowing them greater freedom to explore, learn and engage
with the digital world.
The service offers
location tracking and safety alerts to help families stay informed about the
whereabouts and safety of loved ones. It also provides SOS alerts, enabling
parents to receive notifications when assistance may be required.
For children, JioShield includes screen-time
monitoring and controls, along with the ability to manage accessible apps and
contacts. These features are aimed at helping families create a more controlled
digital environment and reduce concerns around unwanted digital interactions
and fraud.
The solution operates
through two linked applications — the JioThings
app for parents and the JioShield
app installed on the child's phone. Once connected, parents can manage
screen time, apps and contacts, track location and receive safety alerts
through the JioThings app.
The service also
includes low-battery alerts, allowing parents to know when a connected device
is running short of power.
To enrol, the child's
device must be an Android smartphone running Android 10 or above with an active
Jio mobile number. The parent needs to use the Jio number associated with the JioShield subscription to log in to the
JioThings app. Both the parent and
child need to register with a Jio number for enrolment.
The JioThings app is currently available on
Android, while its iOS version is scheduled to become available to all users from
October 1, 2026.
The JioShield annual subscription requires
a one-time payment of ₹1,000
and provides access for one year. Under the anniversary offer, the ₹1,000
recharge benefit is provided as 10 vouchers of ₹100 each, redeemable against
Jio mobility recharges of ₹399 and above on eligible unlimited 5G plans.
The JioShield ₹1,000 anniversary offer became
available to eligible customers from September 26, 2026.
