Reliance Jio continued to consolidate its leadership in India's telecom sector by emerging as the top performer in active wireless subscriber additions during June 2026, according to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The telecom major not only recorded the highest increase in active mobile users but also retained its leadership across wireless, wireline and 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) segments.

TRAI data showed that Jio added 3.33 million active wireless subscribers during the month, taking its Visitor Location Register (VLR) subscriber base to 498.90 million. This was the highest addition among all telecom operators, ahead of Bharti Airtel, which added 2.92 million active users, while Vodafone Idea and the BSNL/MTNL combine reported net declines in active subscribers. Jio now commands 41.5 percent of India's total active wireless subscriber base of 1,201.06 million.

The company also maintained its position as India's largest wireless operator by overall subscriber base. At the end of June 2026, Jio's total mobile subscriber count stood at 503.58 million, giving it a market share of 39.3 percent. The operator added 2.15 million wireless subscribers during the month, further reinforcing its dominance in the highly competitive telecom market.

In the wireline segment, Jio retained its leadership with 15.63 million fixed-line subscribers, accounting for a 32.7 percent market share. The company added 144,057 new wireline connections during June, underscoring continued demand for its broadband and enterprise connectivity services.

Jio also widened its lead in the rapidly expanding 5G Fixed Wireless Access market. The company ended June with 9.11 million FWA subscribers, representing 70.5 percent of India's total 5G FWA subscriber base of 12.94 million. It recorded the highest monthly addition in the segment with 145,790 new subscribers, highlighting the growing adoption of high-speed wireless broadband services.

Further strengthening its technology leadership, Jio remained the only telecom operator in the country to report subscribers for 5G Unlicensed Band Radio (UBR) fixed-wireless services. The company's UBR subscriber base increased by 201,302 during June to reach 4.93 million, reinforcing its first-mover advantage in next-generation wireless broadband offerings.

The broader telecom industry also witnessed healthy growth during the month. India's total telephone subscriber base reached 1.348 billion at the end of June 2026, reflecting a net addition of 4.98 million subscribers, according to TRAI.
