JSW Steel’s Odisha Mining Division emerged as a major winner at the 4th edition of the Minerals and Mining Conclave in Kolkata, securing two prestigious ASSOCHAM Business Excellence Awards. Organised by ASSOCHAM Eastern Region, the conclave brought together industry leaders and stakeholders to celebrate innovation, sustainability, and transformation in the mining sector.

The JSW Steel Odisha Mining Division was honoured with the awards for Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Programmes of the Year and Employer Brand of the Year, reaffirming the company’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace culture while delivering operational excellence.

Accepting the awards, Ram Shankar Sharma, Operations and Project Head, said, “These awards are a reflection of our team’s dedication to building an inclusive workplace and strengthening our identity as an employer of choice. Sharma was accompanied by his team, whose collective efforts have enabled the division to distinguish itself in a highly competitive industry. The ASSOCHAM Business Excellence Awards are regarded among the most prestigious recognitions in the corporate sector, honouring corporates, MSMEs and startups that adopt best practices to drive transformation, innovation and sustainable growth.

Adding to its achievements, JSW Steel’s Odisha Mining Division also earned top honours for its environmental stewardship. The Nuagaon Iron Ore Mine and Narayanposhi Iron & Manganese Ore Mines were recognised for their outstanding environmental initiatives at the GMF Spotlight Awards.

Nuagaon Iron Ore Mine received the GMF Spotlight (Environment Initiative) Award in the Diamond Category, while Narayanposhi Iron & Manganese Ore Mines were conferred with the GMF Spotlight (Environmental Management) Award in the Platinum Category.

The awards were received by Suresh Kumar Mohapatra of Team EHS (Environment), JSW Steel Odisha Mining Division, along with his team, at a gala ceremony held in Gangtok.

The twin recognitions underscore JSW Steel Odisha Mining Division’s continued focus on building an inclusive workforce while advancing sustainable and responsible mining practices, reinforcing its position as a leader in the sector.
