Reinforcing its commitment to
community welfare and the national Swachh Bharat Mission, JSW Steel’s Odisha
Mining Division undertook a large-scale cleanliness drive in Kasira, one of its
peripheral villages, bringing together employees and local residents in a
collective effort to promote hygiene and environmental stewardship.
Nearly 100 employees from the
Narayanposhi Iron & Manganese Mines volunteered for the initiative,
dedicating their time and effort to restore cleanliness and improve the village
surroundings.
A major highlight of the drive was the
restoration of a one-kilometre stretch of road that serves as a vital link
between the National Highway junction, Kasira Sevashram School and the
village’s main access route. The road, heavily used by daily commuters and
schoolchildren, had been affected by accumulated waste and overgrown
vegetation, hindering safe movement.
Through coordinated efforts involving
the removal of debris, clearing of waste, trimming of overgrowth and thorough
sweeping, the JSW Steel team successfully transformed the stretch into a clean
and accessible pathway, significantly enhancing safety and convenience for
local residents.
The initiative was carried out in
close collaboration with village representatives, showcasing an effective
partnership between industry and community in advancing sustainable development
and rural well-being.
Local leaders expressed their
appreciation for the effort, noting that the rejuvenated roadway has not only
improved sanitation but also instilled a renewed sense of civic responsibility
and pride among villagers.
The cleanliness drive concluded with a joint pledge by JSW Steel employees and community members to maintain the restored surroundings and uphold cleanliness standards. JSW Steel also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Kasira and other peripheral villages through impactful socio-welfare initiatives aimed at improving quality of life.
Company officials emphasized that the programme was more than a one-day cleanliness campaign, reflecting JSW Steel’s long-term dedication to the holistic development of communities around its operational areas.
